Mortal Kombat After Rebirth

Posted: February 1, 2011 by Owen Morgan in News

Remember that mind-blowing Mortal Kombat trailer that cropped up last June, starring ‘Black Dynamite’ himself, Michael Jai White as Jax Briggs? Well, for the longest time it looked like nothing would come of it – despite the praise it garnered for it’s grittier, more grounded view on the MK mythology.

Recently, however, it’s been announced that Director Kevin Tancharoen has been picked up by Warner Bros. to produce a 10-part web-series, probably to coincide with the release of the newest Mortal Kombat game that hits April this year. With Jai White reprising his role as Jax, and the internet on fire with rumoured appearances (including Shang Tsung, Mileena, Kitana, Liu Kang and Kabal) on top of those in the pilot episode, this will definitely be something to keep an eye on.

Don’t expect it for free though (unless you’re a dirty pirate thief) because each episode is expected to come with a small charge for viewing. We don’t know how much yet, but that will all depend on both the length of each episode and the reception it gets on release.

I don’t know about you, but I’m certainly hoping everyone’s favourite MK character, Kurtis Stryker, will have a pivotal role in the series. Who’s with me?!

No-one? Oh…
